Andy Ruddick (Rudds) – Co-Owner
Andy Ruddick is an advanced Personal Trainer, CrossFit Coach and co owner of CrossFit HG3 Strength & Conditioning Ltd, North Yorkshire’s first CrossFit affiliate, but his lifestyle was not always as fit and healthy.
After graduating from university to a stressful job in the logistics industry, a combination of an increasingly sedentary lifestyle and poor nutrition saw Andy unfit and weighing in at over 19 stone. In 2006, after the birth of his second son, Andy’s time for change came.
He re-educated himself in terms of health and well being, worked hard to lose the excess weight and stopped smoking and drinking. As he returned to peak fitness he achieved his initial personal goals of running both the Great North Run and Edinburgh Marathon.
Soon after, Andy graduated from Premier International’s renowned Diploma in Personal Training, entering the Register of Exercise Professional at level 3 as an Advanced Trainer and founded his successful personal training business, Inspiral Fitness. Andy went on to enhance his service to his clients by qualifying in a number of specialised areas including Thump Boxing coaching and Kettlebell instructing.
Whilst researching handstand techniques for a client, Andy discovered CrossFit. CrossFit had many things in common with how Andy already trained his clients; large function movements performed at high intensity, but this went much, much further. Andy contacted the coach responsible for bringing CrossFit to Europe, Karl Steadman, and the rest is history. Andy began training at CrossFit Leeds, employing all the elements of CrossFit and saw huge performance and strength gains. This only served to reinforce his believe in the CrossFit methodology. Andy decided to then take the next step and qualified as a certified CrossFit coach.
Whilst training at Mike Rawlingson’s CrossFit Leeds, Andy met Pete Davis and formed a life changing friendship and partnership. In Late 2010 Andy and Pete decided to expand the CrossFit family of affiliates and open CrossFit HG3 at Pannal Business Park in Harrogate and this is where the story really begins.

Peter Davis – Co-Owner
Peter Davis is an advanced personal trainer, sports massage therapist, CrossFit coach, fitness enthusiast and co-owner of CrossFit HG3 Strength & Conditioning Ltd.
Peter has been involved in a high level of sport both on and off the pitch since an early age. After finishing his degree at university in sports and business studies Peter decided that he wanted to learn more about the body and how to improve it. This came as part of a personal quest to battle a long relationship with bad food and to fulfil a goal of becoming an athlete. Peter went on to complete his personal training and sports massage therapy diploma with the well renowned Premier International. This started Peter off and since then he has continued to learn and is now a qualified GP referral specialist, kettlebell instructor, olympic lifting coach and CrossFit coach.
Peter has also spent a year working in professional sport as a massage therapist for Birmingham Solihull Bees RFC in the championship. This gave him a chance to learn how to rehab athletes and keep them fit for each game. It also taught him what it takes and the dedication needed to play elite level sport. Travelling the country with a top flight team is the experience Peter needed to realise what level of sport he wanted to be around.
Whilst researching functional training, Peter came across CrossFit. From then on he has been hooked and the only step he saw next was to open a CrossFit gym. After moving back to Harrogate, Peter started to train at CrossFit Leeds under the guidance of Mike Rawlings and spent time in Manchester with Karl Steadman who helped to bring CrossFit to the UK. Training in this environment has changed Peter for the better and he has now found a place where all levels of fitness can train together regardless of ability or background. He has found gains in strength, mental focus, mood and all round health. Peter has also managed to overcome his battle with food that he has had for so many years by following the paleo diet that CrossFit promotes; it has changed his way of life altogether. This has helped him become a credible athlete and he has found a future in the sport and a method of training he truly believes in.
After meeting Andy at CrossFit Leeds, Peter has made a life changing friendship and brilliant business partnership in creating CrossFit HG3. Becoming part of the ever-growing CrossFit community has helped Peter forge lifelong friendships and a new focus on life.

PJ Cavalli – CrossFit Trainer
.
PJ Cavalli has had a love of all types of sport from an early age, leading to his decision to study Sport & Exercise Science at the University of Bath, where he graduated with a first class honours. It was during his 3rd year of Uni that he started to develop his love of coaching whilst working at the Western Australian Institute of Sport. It was the first time he saw first-hand the difference that really good strength and conditioning coaching can make to an athlete.
When PJ finished Uni he set up as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach in South Wales and spent an enjoyable 3 years working with people with all different levels of fitness and ability. He then spent 5 years working and travelling for a global events company and his fitness and health took a definite back seat. It was towards the end of this period that he discovered Crossfit, and the rest as they say is history. Things he wouldn’t have dreamed possible before finding Crossfit are now the norm, and he’s never been fitter or healthier.
This led to his decision to get his Level 1 coaching certificate, and he first started coaching at Crossfit Northampton. A change of job has meant relocation to York, and thanks to Rudds and Pete, a chance to coach at HG3
