What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that centres itself around a constantly varied routine of functional movements, executed at high intensity. Our speciality is that we do not specialise. This results in us producing well balanced athletes, who can perform across a broad spectrum of disciplines and tasks. This guiding principle makes us not only fitter and able to deal with whatever life throws at us, but to excel at it.
But what is fitness?
At CrossFit HG3 we define fitness as the ability to perform well across all 10 of the following recognised physical skills:
.
Cardio-respiratory Endurance
Strength
Flexibility
Stamina
Speed
Power
Accuracy
Agility
Balance
Co-ordination
.
Fitness for everyone
The great thing about CrossFit is that not only is the program broad in its design, it is all inclusive. Workouts are scalable, ensuring that participants can achieve. The reps and the loads may change, the functional movements do not! This means all athletes can train together - beginner through to elite, young and old – and still reap the benefits.
Sounding good? It gets better….
Unlike other gyms or fitness classes you may have attended, here at CrossFit HG3 we take coaching very seriously. It is important for us to show you not only how to perform movements safely, but how to fine tune them to maximise efficiency. All our staff are highly qualified and will coach each and every member in gymnastic moves, weightlifting, and mono-structural activities. We will show you how to; squat, press, kip, L-sit, row, skip, sprint, jump, throw, perform Olympic lifts, muscle ups, hollow rocks ….the list goes on and on.
Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.Greg Glassman, CrossFit Founder - Our philosophy in 100 words
And there’s even more……
We believe in community. Our CrossFit gyms are not like others that couldn’t care if you turn up or not. We want to see our members developing and growing. In many of our gyms members have formed life long friendships. We want to share in your triumphs and provide support when things gets tough.
